CBA -- Where Visionary Leaders Are Born

If you’re a success-driven business manager who aspires to take your leadership skills to the next level--or if you have plans to ultimately pursue your MBA degree, but not the time to invest in it right now--the AVT CBA may be right for you.

The CBA (Certificate in Business Administration) is an intensive executive certificate program that gives you a tour de force of the MBA disciplines in just six months. CBA is the first of two modules that comprise the AVT educational concept and serves as a stepping stone to the MBA program.

The AVT CBA is designed primarily for mid-level managers, with participants representing a diverse range of organizations and industries. Most applicants have more than five years of functional management experience as well as demonstrated leadership potential. The CBA program is ideal for managers with an academic education as well as those who are largely self-taught.

Unlike other certificate programs that cover only the first module of an MBA program, the CBA is designed to be a self-contained "mini-MBA" that covers all of the key topics and management disciplines of the Master of Business Administration curriculum.

As a CBA participant, you will acquire a powerful "toolbox" in general management and strengthen your theoretical business knowledge base. More importantly, you’ll be able to immediately apply the knowledge and insights you gain to your current workplace challenges. As a bonus, you will have a new network of experienced, highly capable executives to draw upon--just as they will be drawing upon you.

CBA participants often finance part of the CBA study through their gross salary, splitting the cost with their sponsoring company. Read more about this option here.

Unique Course Design

The CBA program is equivalent to 20 ETCS credits (600 hours). Out of these 600 hours:

  • 150 are classroom hours
  • 300 are project hours
  • 150 hours are preparation time

The curriculum is comprised of eight modules and concludes with a Strategic Project Assignment. All modules are taught at the exclusive AVT Business School at Sankt Annae Plads in Copenhagen.

Prior to embarking on the CBA journey, you will participate in two highly useful preparatory courses. These are designed to ready you for the upcoming studies and ensure that you get the most out of the teachings of the CBA.

In addition to captivating monthly lectures in Copenhagen, you will work with unique e-learning programs called "Developing as a a Leader" and "The Harvard Manage Mentor." You will also travel to Cambridge, USA, to visit the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),  the Harvard Faculty Club at Harvard University, and Harvard Business School (See the photos from the September 2008 study tour).

Toward the end of the CBA program, you will test your skills and compete in groups in the challenging two-day management simulation exercise, "The Protean Strategist."
