CBA Admissions

The admissions requirements

Final decisions on admission are made by the AVT Admissions Committee. A minimum of five years of business experience is required for all of our education programs as well as a successful admissions interview.

To ensure a class composition that will maximize the personal learning experience of the participants, the Admissions Committee focuses on the following qualities of each candidate:

  • Ambition and drive
  • Individual business and/or management experience
  • Personal profile and demonstrated leadership potential
  • English language skills

The Admissions Interview

The admissions interview is held in English, and you will be asked to prepare a ten-minute presentation based on a particular business case along with answers to specific questions. You will receive the business case and the questions when you sign up for the interview with the CBA Program Manager.

The purpose of the CBA admissions interview is to establish that:

  • The candidate meets the admissions requirements
  • A complete application form has been submitted, including all appendices (proof of prior academic experience, etc.)
  • The candidate has support from a sponsoring company as well as from his/her family
  • The candidate understands the contents, structure and intended learning objectives of the CBA program
  • The CBA program matches the expectations and needs of the candidate

The CBA admissions interview takes place at AVT Business School, or, in exceptional cases, via Skype. The duration of the interview is approximately one hour.

It is important that you submit a completed application form with all appendices to AVT prior to your interview. The CBA Program Manager will assist you in determining when the application form and appendices are complete and sufficient for the admissions process.

Your first step is to contact the CBA Program Manager and then fill-in the Application Form.

The Admissions Committee:

  • Chair, Jonathan Black-Branch, D.Phil., Ph.D., Barrister, Academic Dean

What about GMAT?

Each year, thousands of MBA applicants worldwide take the GMAT (General Management Admission Test) in order to qualify for studying an MBA. The test is very useful in determining the study capability of an MBA student, but is of most value when assessing younger candidates who have little or no work experience to support their application. The GMAT is therefore mainly used for full-time MBA programs which typically attract a younger class.

Since all CBA participants have ample experience and a solid career track, AVT does not require results of the GMAT in our admissions procedure. Instead, we apply a holistic view of your profile to our decision-making process, taking into account your previous studies, career and accomplishments. However, if you have taken the GMAT, you are welcome to submit your test results. http://www.gmac.com/gmac/thegmat/gmatbasics/whatthegmatmeasures.htm

Our primary requirement to the CBA students are experience, language skills, ambition and drive - this is what makes our CBA such an intensive learning experience. It is truly exciting to study CBA and MBA classes together with a large group of ambitious executives who also have extensive experience and lots of drive.

The average CBA participant has 20 years of business experience

Although AVT requires a minimum of five years of business experience for entrance into the CBA program, in reality, the average CBA participant has close to 20 years of work history and a median age of 40. This makes the AVT CBA classes among the most experienced executive classes in Denmark today--if not the most experienced.
