Welcome new CBA students at AVT: Mentors are ready to guide you
AVT Business School now offers group mentoring to the CBA students.
In January, a new class of CBA students began studies at AVT Business School, and right from the beginning, a team of mentors was in place to guide the students. The mentors are all AVT alumni, which give them the perfect background as mentors. They know the “name of the game”, says mentor Peter Axel-Jensen.
“Each study group has a mentor, who is there to help the students to manage their new life “back in school”. It can be felt as quite a change to resume academic studies after you have been in the work market for at period. You have to get accustomed to studying again, and most likely you can benefit from input from people who have experienced the same,” Peter Axel-Jensen says.
Peter Axel-Jensen graduated with an MBA from AVT in 2010. In his daily life he works at Topdanmark where he is responsible for Danske Bank and E-Business.
Get an overview of the study process
The mentors are there to ensure the students get an overview of the study process and feel ready to effectively manage the challenges which come with the six months of studying and working in the CBA program.
The mentors participate in a monthly study group meeting and coach the students on how they can manage studies, job, and family during this very busy period.
“When you begin the CBA everything is new, and all though the CBA is not quite as tough as the MBA program, you can expect to be very challenged on the CBA program. You can therefore benefit by some guidelines and you can take advantage of asking some experienced alumni for advice,” Peter Axel-Jensen says.
Great to stay in touch
Peter Axel-Jensen has himself suggested that AVT Business School set up the mentoring team. So when it happened he was of course ready to participate.
“I would gladly have had a mentor when I was a CBA student,” he explains, when asked why he is a mentor.
“To me it is great to stay in touch with the school and the network around it. It also gives me the possibility to hear live cases from other organizations and to learn from them,” Peter Axel-Jensen says.
